saying- 26; abandon religious concepts.

Jesus says,

You see the mote in your brother' s eye,

but you do not see the beam in your own eye.

When you cast the beam out of your own eye,

then you will see clearly

to cast the mote from your brother's eye.

There is an Pap. Oxyrh. fragment also.

Before you criticize someone's behavior, (religious) ideas or teachings,

remove first even the tiniest remaining fault that sticks to you.

As Tomas a Kempis wrote (The Imitation of Christ): by two wings man is lifted above

earthly things: simplicity and purity. However, as Taoism teaches us:

although we may basically tend to purity, our restless mind disturbs this,

because it cannot stop craving for material things

(Wong E. Cultivating Stillness, 1992).

If you wonder how to seek the kingdom, then is this a clear answer:

don’t be a hypocrite! Realize that your own vision may be even more

seriously flawed than that of your fellowmen.

And notice: no one is called a hypocrite!

Better hold no religious concepts at all,

as you may easily use these against your fellowmen.

Live simple and pure.
