if you want to experience what he meant
saying- 97; the empty jar.
The Kingdom of the [Father] is like a certain woman who was carrying a jar full of meal.
While she was walking [on] a road, still some distance from home,
the handle of the jar broke and the meal emptied out behind her on the road.
She did not realize it; she had noticed no accident.
When she reached her house, she set the jar down and found it empty.
Again a kingdom metaphor and again it is a woman as acting person, one who was not
paying attention to her valuable possession while on her way, perhaps with all her attention
directed at getting home before dark - Quispel translates that she was still far away from
her house (Quispel, 2004). She lost all her meal and probably had to go to sleep
that night hungry, full of repentance over her negligence.
Meal is for making bread, and bread is often taken as a symbol of life.
So, while traveling through time and space the woman did not guard the essence of her life
and lost it while traveling in the supposition she would soon safely reach
her final destination.
This parable makes me think of something Jesus said somewhere else:
if you think you have life,
see to it that you don't lose it!
We should realize what makes our life a life divine,
and take action to accomplish it,
before too late remorse knocks at the door.
